The importance of welding vision positioning systems in laser welding

The laser vision positioning system is the "finishing touch" in laser processing equipment. For users with high precision welding requirements, visual positioning is very important, especially in the manufacturing process of battery cells and power battery welding. With the visual positioning system, the quality of the welding process can be significantly improved, thus greatly contributing to the safety and quality of the batteries.
The laser CCD visual welding positioning system can automatically identify the entering workpieces, distinguish the welding areas of different workpieces, and help automatically and accurately search for and find the preset welding areas of each workpiece. After accurate positioning, it can output the welding position coordinates in real-time through data communication to guide the laser for precise welding along the preset trajectory.
The laser vision system can also use software to recheck the size, position, and appearance of the welding trace after welding is completed. It achieves actual monitoring of welding quality during the production process, thereby greatly improving the production yield.

Working principle of the laser vision welding positioning system:
The laser vision welding positioning system consists of three parts: the vision system, the motion mechanism, and the laser welding system, and establishes a connection system through visual calibration, which is divided into two parts.
One part is the calibration of the vision system and the laser welding system, which unifies the coordinate systems of the vision system and the laser welding system through a high-precision nine-point marking algorithm.
The other part is the calibration of the coordinate system of the welding head door between the vision system and the motion mechanism.
In actual welding production, the steps are as follows:
1. First, calculate the welding position and angle, and then send the offset to the motion mechanism;
2. The motion system uses the position offset to adjust the position of the welding head;
3. The laser vision welding system uses the position and angle offset to adjust the welding pattern to weld at the precise position;
4. The laser vision welding positioning system uses a geometric profile matching positioning algorithm during the positioning calculation process, with a repeat positioning accuracy of 1/40 of a sub-pixel, unaffected by uneven lighting. For areas significantly affected by lighting, the visual positioning system can add supplementary lighting to provide a light source, generally using red light to enhance the accuracy of visual positioning;
5. Combined with line-following tools, it can easily prepare and position various features;

In the application process of the visual automatic welding positioning system, machine vision can replace manual work, thereby reducing labor costs and minimizing uncontrollable situations caused by slow manual work.
The laser vision positioning system is not only used in welding but is also widely applied in laser marking and cutting, achieving large-scale application in industrial production, significantly promoting the realization of welding automation.
