Typical applications of laser processing equipment in welding and cutting forming of irons.
Industrial irons generally belong to the high-pressure steam output end, which is a significant feature distinguishing them from household irons. At the same time, industrial irons require a large amount of steam, a larger ironing surface area, and faster speeds. Therefore, a centralized steam supply method is generally adopted, where steam is transmitted through gas pipes and then output from the iron. At this time, there is a certain high pressure and high temperature environment at the output end, so the sealing and pressure resistance requirements for the iron's steam chamber are relatively high. The base plate material of mid-to-high-end industrial irons is generally made of alloy materials, while the top cover is made of stainless steel. The welding and drilling between them have significant advantages when using laser processing!
1. The steam outlet holes of the alloy base plate are drilled using laser drilling, which is formed in one go, with smooth edges. The heating during drilling does not affect other areas, and no post-processing is required. Once drilled, it can be applied, so compared to other drilling methods, it is far ahead in terms of quality, production cost control, and production efficiency.
2. The welding of the stainless steel cover and the base plate (steam chamber) can use laser oscillating welding or continuous laser welding. From a cost-performance perspective, we recommend using a handheld laser oscillating welding machine because it has a lower procurement budget and is convenient to use, suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises. The purpose of using an oscillating welding system is to better weld the seam between the iron cover and the base plate. Pure laser welding requires a high degree of fit for the workpiece, generally requiring a seam fit of less than 0.01MM. In contrast, the oscillating welding method allows a maximum fit of up to 0.05MM and can automatically adjust the welding amplitude. Therefore, using laser oscillating welding can better improve the airtightness between the workpieces, which is crucial for industrial irons and is an important process determining the quality of an iron.
As mentioned above, laser continuous welding is actually a better choice, but it has a higher cost. If the procurement budget is sufficient, using oscillating continuous welding is also an ideal choice, more suitable for large-scale enterprise production applications.
3. The cutting forming of the iron base plate, like its drilling, is faster with laser forming, has a higher cutting process, requires no subsequent processing series, and has excellent output. The shape can be cut according to one's cutting design software drawings, significantly shortening the sample to production cycle.
Therefore, whether it is cutting, drilling, or welding of irons, using laser welding and cutting processing equipment is a worthwhile choice for industry applications and an important measure to improve the competitiveness of iron product quality.
