Therefore, the side welding process has higher requirements for the stability of the laser, the cleanliness of the materials, and the fit gap between the top cover and the casing.
Disadvantages of top welding for power batteries: The requirements for the previous process of entering the casing and positioning are very high, leading to high automation requirements for the equipment.
Most power batteries have aluminum casings. It is known that the absorption rate of aluminum casings by lasers is very low, making welding difficult. Generally, it requires a higher power for laser welding. Additionally, it needs to address issues such as bulging during welding, porosity, fire explosion, and internal bubble problems.
In the laser welding processing of power batteries, welding process technicians will select suitable lasers and welding process parameters based on the customer's battery materials, shapes, thicknesses, and tensile requirements, including welding peak, speed, welding head tilt angle, waveform, etc., to set reasonable laser welding process parameters to ensure that the final welding effect meets the requirements of power battery manufacturers.
For the welding of square batteries, the most common problems occur at the corners.
