Laser type
There are pluses and minuses for each type of laser used in welding applications, and the cost structure is different. Some applications can be performed with any laser. Only one type of laser is suitable, as some applications are very complex or specialized. The most common types today are CO2 and Nd. : YAG, fiber, and disk laser.

The Nd: YAG laser is a solid-state laser that sends a high-intensity light source (flash or diode) into a specially coated crystal rod, causing the lamp rod to generate a laser beam. Beam quality is not as good as CO2. However, there are few moving parts and it can be transmitted via flexible fiber optics.

Nd: A variant of YAG, a disk laser sends diode light to a disk or wafer instead of a rod. This results in better beam quality than regular Nd: YAG rod lasers.

A fiber laser is a new type of solid-state laser that creates a laser beam by sending diode light directly into an optical fiber and then generates a laser beam inside the optical fiber. Like disk lasers, fiber lasers provide excellent beams. Quality, fiber optic function, no moving parts. The modular design makes it easy to expand.

Each of these lasers has its strengths and weaknesses, but they are all modern and reliable manufacturing tools.
