   So, what is focus control? In the early application of laser cutting, the main method of focusing is to rely on manual to complete. Now with the development of laser technology, this manual focusing method has been gradually eliminated, and the automatic focusing function has slowly been realized, such as high energy All laser cutting machines of the laser are equipped with automatic focusing function.

So, some people will say that the optical path is integrated in the cutting head. Is it possible to achieve the focus adjustment function by changing the height of the cutting head? When the cutting head is raised, the focus position is high, and when the cutting head is lowered, the focus position is low. However, it turns out that it is not as simple as everyone thinks.

The bottom of the laser cutting head is the nozzle. During the cutting process, the distance between the nozzle and the workpiece (nozzle height) is about 0.5 to 1.5mm. It may be regarded as a fixed value, that is, the height of the nozzle is unchanged, so it cannot be lifted by the cutting head. Focusing (otherwise, the cutting process cannot be completed).
   

The focal length of the focusing lens cannot be changed, so you can't expect to adjust the focus by changing the focal length. If you change the position of the focus lens, you can change the focus position: the focus lens goes down, the focus goes down, and the focus mirror goes up, then the focus goes up. -This is indeed a way of focusing. Using a motor to drive the focusing mirror to move up and down can achieve automatic focus adjustment.
  

Another method of automatic focusing is: before the beam enters the focusing mirror, a variable curvature mirror (or adjustable mirror) is placed. By changing the curvature of the mirror, the divergence angle of the reflected beam is changed, thereby changing the focus position.
  

With the automatic focusing function, when processing workpieces of different materials and different thicknesses, the machine can automatically adjust the focus to the most suitable position quickly. In this way, the processing efficiency of the laser cutting machine can be significantly improved, and the perforation time of thick plates will be greatly reduced.
   Therefore, for the laser cutting machine, the auto focus function is an important and indispensable function.
